How We Calculate

Every calculator that depends on a Saudi rule is built from an official source. The main ones are the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) and the Saudi Labor Law, the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), Absher and the General Directorate of Passports, Qiwa, the Umm Al-Qura official gazette for royal decrees, and the Umm Al-Qura calendar of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

When an official page and a news report disagree, we follow the official page. When we cannot confirm a number from an official source, we say so on the page instead of guessing.

Each rule, such as a fee, a rate or a contribution percentage, is kept in one rules file in our code together with its source and the date it was last checked. The calculator reads its numbers from that file, and every guide is checked against the same file before it is published, so the calculator and the guide show the same numbers.

Each calculator shows the date its rules were last checked, and each guide shows the date it was last updated. We check rules again when a new decision is published, and on known change dates, for example every 1 July when the new GOSI pension rate starts.

Before a calculator or guide is published, we work through real examples by hand and compare them with the calculator result, for example a 10,000 SAR salary for GOSI or a 1,150 SAR receipt for VAT. The same examples appear in our guides so you can check the maths yourself.

Results are estimates for planning. Your contract, your employer's records or a special case can change the final amount. The official system, such as Qiwa, GOSI, Absher or ZATCA, always has the final word. For religious questions such as zakat, we explain the common views and recommend asking a scholar you trust.
