Dependent Fees in Saudi Arabia 2026: 400 SAR a Month, How to Calculate and Pay
Quick answer: An expat in the private sector pays 400 SAR per month for each dependent (wife, children, parents on his iqama). That is 4,800 SAR a year per dependent. The fee is paid in advance, usually when the iqama is renewed, and must be cleared before an exit re-entry or final exit visa.

Who pays the dependent fee?
- Non-Saudi workers in the private sector who have family members registered as dependents on their iqama.
- The fee is per dependent (each person), not per family.
- The worker himself does not pay this fee for himself. His work permit is a separate cost (the expat levy paid by the employer).
- Some categories are exempt or follow special rules. Check your case on Absher before you pay.
Dependent fee table 2026
| Dependents | 3 months (SAR) | 6 months (SAR) | 12 months (SAR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1,200 | 2,400 | 4,800 |
| 2 | 2,400 | 4,800 | 9,600 |
| 3 | 3,600 | 7,200 | 14,400 |
| 4 | 4,800 | 9,600 | 19,200 |
| 5 | 6,000 | 12,000 | 24,000 |
Formula: dependent fees = 400 × number of dependents × number of months.
When is the fee paid?
- Iqama renewal: you pay for the dependents for the same period as the iqama you renew (3, 6, 9 or 12 months).
- Exit re-entry visa: Absher checks that the dependent fees are paid for the period.
- Final exit: any unpaid months must be paid before the final exit is issued.
- New dependent: fees start from the dependent's registration period.
Newborn babies
A newborn added to the iqama is a dependent too. The fee can be charged retroactively from the period it should have been registered, so registering the baby late does not avoid the fee. It may increase the amount due at once.
Example: family of four
A worker has a wife and two children (3 dependents) and renews the iqama for 12 months. Dependent fees = 400 × 3 × 12 = 14,400 SAR. This is on top of the iqama renewal fees. See the iqama renewal fees guide.
How to pay the dependent fee
- Log in to Absher and check the fee amount under the dependents' services.
- Pay through your bank (SADAD) under Passports (Jawazat), using the iqama number of the sponsor.
- Wait until the payment shows in Absher, then renew the iqama or issue the visa.
Hasebio estimates the amount. The final amount and any exemption is what Absher shows for your iqama.
