Iqama Renewal Fees 2026: Cost for 3, 6, 9 and 12 Months (Full Table)

By Ali Muhammad · Engineer and founder of Hasebio · Last updated: 26 October 2026

Quick answer: Renewing a company worker's iqama for 12 months costs about 10,350 SAR when expats outnumber Saudis in the company (levy 800 SAR a month), or 9,150 SAR when they do not (levy 700 SAR a month). That total is the residence fee (650), the work permit (100) and the expat levy. A domestic worker's iqama costs 600 SAR a year and a family member aged 18+ 500 SAR.

What the iqama renewal fee is made of

  • Residence (iqama) fee: 650 SAR a year for a company worker. Hasebio uses this reference amount from a government-hosted filing; Absher shows the final figure when you pay.
  • Work permit fee (رسوم رخصة العمل): 100 SAR a year.
  • Expat levy (المقابل المالي): 800 SAR a month when expat workers outnumber Saudi workers, or 700 SAR a month when they are equal or fewer.

You can renew for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Each fee is charged for the months you choose, so a 3-month renewal costs a quarter of the yearly amount.

The work permit and levy amounts for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months match the official HRSD table (25 / 50 / 75 / 100 SAR permit; 2,400 / 4,800 / 7,200 / 9,600 SAR levy at 800 a month).

Is my company in the 700 or 800 levy band?

It depends on the company, not on you: if the number of expat workers is higher than the number of Saudi workers, the levy is 800 SAR a month. If it is equal or lower, it is 700 SAR. Your HR department can see this on Qiwa.

These are the yearly amounts Absher lists (600 and 500 SAR), split by period. The monthly dependent fee is separate: see the dependent fees calculator.

Who pays the iqama renewal fee?

Under Article 40 of the Saudi Labor Law, the employer pays the iqama and work permit fees and their renewals for non-Saudi workers, together with the related fines for delay. The worker should not be charged for them.

What is not included

  • Dependent (companion) fees for family members.
  • Medical insurance, which must be valid to renew.
  • Late-renewal fines and traffic violations.
  • Fees for professions that need a separate licence.

Industrial companies: levy cancelled

On 17 December 2025 the Council of Ministers cancelled the expat levy for workers in establishments that hold an industrial licence. If your company is one of them, the 700/800 SAR monthly levy does not apply; only the iqama and work permit fees remain. Check your establishment's status on Qiwa.

How to renew an iqama

  1. Make sure the passport is valid and the worker has valid medical insurance.
  2. The employer pays the work permit and expat levy (Qiwa / SADAD).
  3. Pay the iqama fee through the bank (SADAD).
  4. Renew in Absher Business or Muqeem for company workers, or Absher Individuals for domestic workers.
