Saudi Electricity Tariff 2027: New Prices, Slabs and Fixed Tariff (Full Table)

By Ali Muhammad · Engineer and founder of Hasebio · Last updated: 27 October 2026

Quick answer: From 1 January 2027, homes in Saudi Arabia pay 21 halalas per kWh up to 6,000 kWh a month and 33 halalas above that (before: 18 and 30). The old meter reading fee is replaced by a fixed tariff of 70, 80, 90 or 100 SAR a month depending on your breaker capacity. Prices exclude 15% VAT. Saudi Energy announced the change on 25 October 2026.

Consumption prices are in halalas per kWh. The four fixed tariff figures are for breakers of 20 to under 100, 100 to under 200, 200 to under 300, and 300 amperes or more. Private health facilities and private schools and institutes now use the commercial tariff.

What changed

  • The consumption slabs stay the same (6,000 kWh), but each slab costs more.
  • The meter reading, maintenance and billing fee is gone. The fixed tariff by breaker capacity replaces it. You never pay both.
  • For a bill longer or shorter than 30 days, the fixed tariff is fixed tariff × bill days ÷ 30.
  • The first bill that spans 1 January 2027 is split: use before that date is billed at the old tariff and use after it at the new one.
  • VAT of 15% is added on top of all the prices above.

Frequently asked questions

When does the new electricity tariff start?

On 1 January 2027. Saudi Energy announced it on 25 October 2026.

What is the new price per kWh for homes?

21 halalas up to 6,000 kWh a month and 33 halalas above that, before VAT.

What is the fixed tariff for homes?

70 SAR a month for a 20 to under 100 A breaker, 80 for 100 to under 200 A, 90 for 200 to under 300 A and 100 for 300 A or more.

Is the meter fee still charged?

No. The fixed tariff replaces the meter reading, maintenance and billing fee.

Do the new prices include VAT?

No. 15% VAT is added to the bill.

Does a bigger breaker mean more consumption?

No. Breaker capacity limits how many devices can run at once; it does not by itself raise your kWh. It does set the fixed tariff.
