Important

Zakat is due on wealth held for one full lunar year that reaches the nisab. This is an estimate. Ask a scholar about gold jewellery, debts and special cases. ZATCA also offers a zakat calculator for individuals.

Frequently asked questions

What is the zakat rate?

2.5% of net zakatable wealth that has been held for one lunar year and reaches the nisab. For a business with a Hijri fiscal year ZATCA also uses 2.5%.

What is the nisab?

Scholars set it at the value of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, and the lower silver figure is often preferred because it benefits the poor. This calculator uses gold: enter today's gold price and it works out the nisab for you. This is a scholarly rule, not a ZATCA figure.

What is the rate for a Gregorian fiscal year?

ZATCA adjusts the rate for the number of days: 2.5% divided by 354 and multiplied by 365, which is about 2.5777%.

Is the business result my official zakat?

No. It is a simplified estimate. The official zakat base follows the ZATCA regulation and your accounts. File your return through ZATCA.

Is zakat due on debts owed to me?

Scholars usually include debts that are likely to be paid back. Debts that are doubtful are often counted when they are received. Ask a scholar about your case.

Can I pay zakat through ZATCA?

ZATCA has an e-service zakat calculator for individuals and accepts payment by SADAD bill. Check the ZATCA service page for the steps.
